At Test 13, we love helping experts turn their knowledge into something that scales. One of our favorite projects was with Margeir Vilhjálmsson, a certified PGA golf instructor in Iceland who had already created fantastic video content for people wanting to learn golf. He had the expertise and the courses, but struggled to find a platform that actually worked for selling and delivering them. That’s where we came in. Our goal was simple: build a platform from the ground up that would let Margeir share his courses with the world in a smooth, professional, and fun way.
Challanges
Even with high-quality course content ready to go, getting it in front of students in a great format is no small task. One of the biggest challenges was making sure the platform felt seamless to use—especially on mobile, since many students would be learning on the go or even out on the golf course. We needed to ensure that video playback was fast and reliable on all devices, and that the whole experience—from browsing the courses to checking out—felt smooth and intuitive. We also wanted to make it fun and motivating for students, which meant going beyond the basics of just showing lessons. Adding simple things like progress tracking and a splash of confetti when users completed a course gave the whole platform a friendly, engaging vibe that matched Margeir’s teaching style.
Scope of Work
We built the platform entirely from scratch with Margeir’s needs in mind. We created a system where he could easily add courses and embed his Vimeo-hosted videos directly into the lessons. We added user authentication so students could create an account, browse the course library, and purchase the lessons they wanted. To support payments, we integrated with a local Icelandic payment provider and built a simple, secure checkout process. On the backend, we developed an admin portal that works a lot like what you’d find in a modern ecommerce store. Margeir can see an overview of everything happening on the platform, track purchases, and even create discount codes or coupons for promotions. All in all, the project turned his strong video content into a fully-functioning online business—and we’re proud to have played a part in helping bring it to life.
