Legal Tech

At Test 13, we love teaming up with startups that are making waves in their industries. Recently, we had the pleasure of working with LagaViti, a forward-thinking tech company from Reykjavik, Iceland. They're developing an AI-powered legal assistant aimed at helping lawyers tackle legal issues more efficiently.

Challanges

Building an AI assistant for the legal field is both an exciting and demanding endeavor. LagaViti faces several challenges on this journey. One of the biggest is structuring the massive amount of data that the legal industry produces. Organizing case laws, statutes, and legal precedents in a way that's clear, consistent, and usable for an AI system is no small task—but it's absolutely essential for the assistant to work well. Another key challenge is searchability. With such a vast and complex database, the AI needs to be able to quickly and accurately find the right information, even when the questions are detailed and nuanced. On top of that, there's the task of optimizing for large language models (LLMs). Legal language is full of subtleties, and training the AI to understand and respond appropriately requires careful fine-tuning to ensure it can handle the complexities of legal terminology and context.

Scope of Work

To assist LagaViti in overcoming these challenges, we made a comprehensive analysis of their product and value proposition. We worked closely with their team to evaluate the core functionalities of their AI legal assistant and how it aligns with the needs of legal professionals in Iceland. This collaborative assessment allowed us to identify areas where the product could be improved to better serve its intended users. In addition to product analysis, we focused on implementing tools and processes aimed at improving LagaViti’s product management and development workflows. By introducing the right tools and processes, we enabled their team to streamline operations and accelerate development timelines.
